As the capital city, Ottawa has a power grid all its own. Along with the area’s network of 145,000 federal civil servants, there are all sorts of power players, from lobbyists and diplomats to strategists and sundry operatives. Outsiders may mistake this place as a buttoned-down burg where the streets roll up at night. Insiders know better. There are social occasions galore, and whether buttons get undone when it’s time to mingle or the occasion calls for formal wear, dressing with personal style and confidence is always empowering.
