LUXURY GOES ELECTRIC

BMW redefining an era of automotive luxury with new electric lineup.

With consumers increasingly conscious of the environmental impact of their purchases, the future of automotive is undoubtedly electric. In fact, nearly two thirds of Canadians now count sustainability as a leading priority when purchasing a vehicle.

But is the world of luxury ready to go electric?

Electric power means quiet, effortless performance and acceleration—ideal for the luxury driving experience. German automaker BMW has prioritized electromobility—with its range of BMW i models leading the charge. Established in 2010, BMW i develops vehicles with full electric or partial electric drives. But more than that, these models inspire a new understanding of the relationship between the vehicle and sustainability.

BMW currently features seven fully electric models, as well as five plug-in hybrids. The company predicts that half of its sales will be electric by 2030. As the brand redefines electric luxury, its executives are quick to point out that sustainable practices are nothing new for the automaker.

The BMW Group has been consistently ranked as one of the most sustainable automotive companies in the world by the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) since they were created in 1999. Locally, Otto’s BMW has also shown a strong commitment to sustainable practices, giving back over $1.5M through its charitable arm, Otto’s Planet, and helping plant over 50,000 trees across the Ottawa region.

Here is a glimpse into the new era of automotive luxury, electrified by BMW.

THE BMW i4

The first all-electric Gran Coupé, the BMW i4 delivers outstanding dynamics with a high level of comfort and the ideal qualities to make it your daily driver. The four-door model comes equipped with fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology for sporty performance figures, reaching 536 hp (BMW i4 M50 xDrive). With a long range, five spacious seats and ample luggage capacity, the i4 is the perfect companion for any journey. The driver-oriented cockpit and BMW curved display screen provide a sporty feel complemented by its aerodynamically optimized exterior silhouette.

Achieve a full charge of 484 km (BMW i4 eDrive40) in a little over eight hours at home with a BMW Wallbox or Flexible Fast Charger or just under 30 minutes at a DC Level 3 charging station.

THE BMW i5

Powerful motor and sporty driving dynamics: the new BMW i5 M60 xDrive delivers the performance typical of a BMW M reaching 593 hp in a fully electric vehicle. The available Adaptive M Suspension Professional with Active Roll Stabilization adapts to any driving style — from sporty to very comfortable. BMW enthusiasts are equally impressed with its agile and stable steering with the Integral Active 4-Wheel Steering feature and M Sport braking system.

Inside, the M-specific display screen redefines automotive technology while the sports seats and available Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound System — with 18 speakers and 655 watts of power — deliver the ultimate in comfort and entertainment.

Achieve a full charge of 412 km in only 30 minutes at a DC Level 3 charging station, or charge your i5 at home in a little over eight hours with a BMW Wallbox or Flexible Fast Charger.

THE BMW i7

For those who value luxury, first and foremost, the fully electric BMW i7 is one of the brand’s crown jewels, combining electric performance and multisensory entertainment to produce an unforgettable motoring experience. The striking sedan delivers a luxurious lounge atmosphere complete with a 31.3-inch theatre screen for backseat passengers and a sky lounge panoramic sunroof, not to mention a multimedia Interaction Bar with many of the vehicle’s controls, plus a 14.9-inch curved display screen in the front cockpit. Rear doors also feature integrated touchscreens while the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System creates a 4D audio experience with a maximum output of 1965 watts.

In its exterior, Swarovski crystals accentuate the headlights and illuminated kidney grille while its flowing silhouette epitomizes the luxury sedan.

A full charge range is over 500 km with the i7, and its owners are treated to three years of complimentary charging at Electrify Canada stations across the country.

THE BMW iX

The stunning BMW iX is the automaker’s first electric SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle), delivering the brand’s quintessential style, elegance and sustainable performance in a roomier, more spacious design. Thanks to efficient BMW eDrive technology and its fully electric all-wheel drive, the iX achieves an exceptional 500 km range and delivers powerful acceleration from a standstill, reaching upwards of 516 hp.

Inside, the iX features a design that wouldn’t be out of place in a modern art museum. Unique materials are available, such as microfibre and wool upholstery, real wood trim, and infotainment controls made from crystal. The full-length panoramic glass roof creates a generous sense of space with rear lounge seating with optional heating and integrated 3D loudspeakers.

Create even more space with a BMW lockable roof box and your family will be road-trip ready. For added safety, the BMW iX has an extremely large range of driver and assistance systems as standard features: the Driving Assistant Professional includes steering and lane-guidance assist with extended functions, emergency-steer assist and lane-keeping assist with side-collision warning. The Parking Assistant Plus uses a large number of cameras to give you a full display of objects surrounding your vehicle, in 3D as well.

Achieve a full charge of 500 km in only 30 minutes at a DC Level 3 charging station or charge at home in a little over 11 hours with a BMW Wallbox or Flexible Fast Charger.
