Nobu Residences Los Cabos

Luxury relaxation, redefined

By Sarah Lelievre

Some destinations are built for adventure. Others are designed for something far more indulgent: slowing down. At Nobu Residences Los Cabos, luxury reveals itself quietly—in the rhythm of the ocean, in long dinners that stretch late into the evening and in days that unfold with no real agenda at all.

My friend Jen and I arrived with exactly that mindset. As food lovers who appreciate slow mornings and unhurried afternoons, we were eager to immerse ourselves in a place where relaxation and culinary discovery could coexist effortlessly.

Set along the dramatic Pacific coastline, Nobu Residences Los Cabos blends Japanese minimalism with the warmth of natural Mexican materials. With only 60 residences, the property feels intimate and residential rather than resort-like. It’s an understated retreat where thoughtful design and personalized service shape the entire experience.

From the moment we arrived for our VIP check-in, the atmosphere felt calm and seamless. Clean architectural lines are softened by earthy textures—neutral tones, warm wood, and stone finishes that echo the natural landscape surrounding the property. The esthetic is refined yet relaxed, creating a space that is both elevated and welcoming.

Our private sanctuary

Nobu Residences offers several accommodation styles for extended stays, from the one-bedroom Hikari to the expansive Kogane Penthouse, complete with private gym and massage cabin. Jen and I were fortunate to stay in the Asahi Residence, a spacious two-bedroom suite with a full kitchen and an expansive terrace overlooking the neighbouring Dunes Course by Davis Love III.

The terrace quickly became our favourite place to unwind.

Each evening, we found ourselves drawn outside with a glass of wine, watching the sun slowly sink into the Pacific. The distant crash of waves rolling onto the shore provided a soothing soundtrack as the sky shifted through shades of amber and indigo. Cabo’s Pacific side carries a certain stillness, and it invites you to linger a little longer in the moment.

Inside the residence, every detail felt carefully considered. Our favourite feature was the traditional teak onsen soaking tub, which transformed our suite into a private spa retreat. After long afternoons in the sun, slipping into the warm bath became a nightly ritual—quiet, restorative and wonderfully simple.

A destination for food lovers

For Jen and me, the culinary scene at Nobu Los Cabos was one of the most exciting parts of the stay. Each restaurant offered a distinct atmosphere while maintaining the same thoughtful approach to flavour and service.

Our first evening began at The M Bar, perched high above the resort with sweeping views of the Pacific. As the sky softened into golden hour, we settled in with cocktails recommended by our server. Mine arrived topped with delicate gold leaf and an edible flower—beautifully balanced and refreshing.

Dinner that night was at Muna Restaurant, where Mediterranean-inspired flavours shape an elegant and vibrant menu. Trusting our server’s suggestions proved to be the perfect approach. A bright tuna tartare arrived first, followed by a delicate white fish that was impossibly fresh. The highlight of the evening, however, was the lobster risotto—rich, silky and deeply satisfying.

That first meal set the tone for the rest of our culinary experiences at the resort.

Another memorable evening took us to Ardea Steakhouse, where chef Paolo Della Corte draws inspiration from his Italian roots. The atmosphere is warm and intimate, ideal for lingering over a slow dinner. The beef tenderloin—paired with a glass of Nebbiolo recommended by the sommelier—was flawlessly prepared and melted with each bite.

For elevated Mexican cuisine, Pacific Restaurant delivered one of the most memorable nights of our stay. Overlooking glowing fire pits and the quiet curve of the bay, we dined beneath an almost-full moon as the ocean breeze drifted through the terrace.

Guided by our server’s recommendations, we shared several seafood dishes including vibrant scallop ceviche, seared tuna tostadas and lobster enchiladas that were rich, comforting and unforgettable. When the evening air turned cooler, staff thoughtfully brought soft blankets and placed a heater beside our table—an understated gesture that perfectly reflected the attentive service throughout the resort.

Mornings at The Restaurant began with fresh juices, smoothies and beautifully prepared breakfast dishes, while the Nobu Café quickly became our favourite stop for coffee and pastries when we wanted to ease into the day with a walk along the beach.

And for long afternoons spent poolside, Playabar at the Cortez Pool serves everything from sushi to tacos—best enjoyed between dips in the water and stretches of sun-soaked lounging.

One of the most appealing elements of Nobu Residences, however, is the flexibility it offers. Guests can cook in their fully equipped kitchen, grill dinner on their terrace BBQ or even arrange for a private chef to prepare a meal in-suite—creating a personalized dining experience that feels both luxurious and comfortably familiar.

The art of quiet luxury

While the residences offer a peaceful retreat, guests still have access to the amenities of the Nobu Hotel. Four pools are spread across the property, including an adults-only infinity pool lined with super cabanas—private shaded retreats complete with daybeds, loungers and full bathrooms.Jen and I spent one particularly perfect afternoon in one of these cabanas overlooking the ocean. Between dips in the infinity pool and quiet stretches of lounging, attentive staff brought cocktails and plates of sushi that were easily some of the best we’ve ever tasted.

The service felt thoughtful rather than intrusive. Staff quickly remembered our preferences, surprising us with cucumber-infused cocktails and even gently cleaning our sunglasses while we relaxed.

Beyond the pools, the resort offers pickleball courts, a modern fitness centre, yoga spaces and boutiques stocked with designer resortwear and beach essentials.

Yet what stayed with us most wasn’t a single amenity or experience; it was the atmosphere. At Nobu Residences Los Cabos, time seems to soften. Days stretch longer, meals last deeper into the evening and the simple act of slowing down becomes its own kind of luxury.

And somewhere between sunset cocktails, ocean breezes and unforgettable meals, Jen and I realized that the true magic of the place lies not in what you do—but in how effortlessly it allows you to do less.
