This standout OakWood custom home has undeniable wow factor.
What’s really impressive, though, is its smart, forward-thinking design.
With about 5800 square feet of living space, this modern custom home in north Kanata has five bedrooms and eight bathrooms, along with plenty of style and lifestyle perks. Its striking lines, soaring ceilings, abundance of light and statement kitchen immediately draw the eye. But when the clients chose Ottawa’s OakWood, oakwood.ca, to do this custom project, they were looking to the future.
“This home was built with longevity in mind,” one of the homeowners explains. “Every decision—from the layout to the finishes—was made to ensure the space remains beautiful, functional and enjoyable for our family for many years to come.”
The directive was clear: “We wanted to build a home that truly reflected our family’s lifestyle and long-term vision. Rather than compromising on an existing house, we chose to design a custom home that combined timeless architecture, functional living spaces and high-quality craftsmanship.
“Our priorities were creating a warm, welcoming home with an open layout, abundant natural light, durable materials and spaces that are both elegant and practical for everyday family life and entertaining.”
Mission accomplished. Striking architectural lines define the residence and expansive windows flood the interiors with natural light. Carefully planned living spaces provide both comfort and style, while a glass-railed staircase serves as a stylish focal point. What’s truly worth remembering, though—for people considering building their own custom home—is that it’s designed to accommodate a future elevator, ensuring adaptability for years to come.
“Effortless transitions between indoor and outdoor areas further enhance the sense of openness and connection,” says Patricia Liptak-Satov, OakWood’s chief operations officer. “Each element was meticulously chosen to achieve a harmonious blend of sophistication, relaxation and practical functionality throughout the home.”
Modern, timeless and inviting, this new family home combines contemporary design with classic elements for a multigenerational living space that feels both luxurious and comfortable.
“What I appreciate most is how effortlessly the home supports our daily life,” says the homeowner. “It’s a place where family and friends naturally gather, and the thoughtful design makes every space enjoyable to live in. It’s rewarding to see our vision become a home that truly reflects who we are.”
